    Thursday evening May 3, at 7:00 p.m., PEACE Iowa will host
    Joseph Gerson. author of the recent bookEmpire and the
    Bomb: How the US Uses Nuclear Weapons to Dominate the
    World.Gerson?s appearance at PEACE Iowa is part of a
    speaking and book tour sponsored by the American Friends
    Service Committee.

    Gerson, AFSC program director in New England, has been
    working on nuclear issues for many years and works regularly
    with the Hibakusha of Japan. His work is current and explores
    the tensions between the US and Iran. ?Kate Hudson of the
    Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament describes Gerson as
    combining ?the rigor of a scholar and the heart of a lifelong
    activist.?

    Daniel Ellsberg notes, "Gerson has uncovered the radioactive
    vein in our secret foreign policy. He helps us understand why
    the likelihood of nuclear war is greater now than before the fall
    of the Berlin wall." ?
